The median is the number that's larger than half the data
and smaller than the other half

By definition, probability experiments are all chance experiments since we don't know the possible outcomes. When the outcomes are predetermined, the goal is not to test the hypothesis or prove it but rather confirm or replicate the prior strong evidence of previous studies.
